Brazen attack after work: DJ lured into a car
In Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained three men suspected of a brutal robbery attack on a 26-year-old DJ of the city’s clubs. The victim was found bound and unconscious on the bank of the Desna River. The Kyiv police reported this on September 17, 2026.
A resident of the Desnianskyi district contacted law enforcement after noticing an unconscious man with bound hands on the riverbank. Police established that the victim works as a DJ at Kyiv venues. According to the investigation, the attack was planned in advance with the aim of seizing the man’s valuable property.
Law enforcement identified and detained:
- the 25-year-old alleged organizer;
- his 21-year-old accomplice;
- another 31-year-old man.
According to the police, the 25-year-old man waited for the victim near an entertainment venue and offered to give him a lift home. The DJ put his music equipment and other belongings into the car and sat in the back seat. Later two more men got into the vehicle who, according to the investigation, began beating the passenger. Meanwhile the driver produced a weapon and fired several times at the victim’s chest. Several reports citing the police mention a traumatic firearm.
After the attack the man was taken to the bank of the Desna and tied up. The perpetrators, according to law enforcement, took:
- expensive musical equipment;
- a mobile phone;
- money;
- other valuables.
After that they left, leaving the victim unconscious. The Kyiv resident was hospitalized with gunshot wounds and fractures. At the time of the police report he remained in the hospital in serious condition.
The three suspects were detained in accordance with art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. They were notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — robbery committed by prior conspiracy of a group of persons under martial law with the infliction of serious bodily injuries.
The article’s sanction provides for up to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The court remanded all three without the right to post bail.
