Parcels up to €150 may be subject to VAT: the Rada gave first approval
The bill was supported on the third attempt by 273 deputies
The Verkhovna Rada on its third attempt adopted in the first reading bill No. 16051-1, which provides for the introduction of VAT on goods from foreign marketplaces. The decision was supported by 273 members of parliament, writes the publication Babel.
The document proposes to cancel the exemption under which parcels worth up to 150 euros were not taxed. Tax on such purchases must be calculated and paid directly by the electronic platform.
At the same time, non-commercial shipments worth up to 45 euros are proposed to remain exempt from taxation.
The introduction of VAT on international parcels is one of the requirements of the International Monetary Fund, on which further financing for Ukraine depends.
During the preliminary vote the bill did not receive the necessary support: it received 194 votes versus the minimum required 226.
