No new application required: payments for some displaced persons will be extended for six months
New rules apply to recipients of assistance until August 31
The procedure for extending housing assistance for internally displaced persons has been simplified. For some displaced people who were receiving payments until 31 August 2026, these will be automatically extended for an additional six months. It is not necessary to submit an application again.
The changes were approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine by Resolution No. 1087 of 3 September. According to the Pension Fund of Ukraine, the new procedure has been applied since 1 September.
Automatic extension is not provided for all people with IDP status. Assistance will continue to be received only by those who meet the current program requirements. Without a new application, payments will also be extended to families for whom child benefits were previously assigned without taking the parents’ income into account.
The duration of support has also changed: the number of available half-year periods has been increased from five to six.
The procedure for appealing PFU decisions has been clarified separately. Initially, a disagreement can be submitted to the head of the relevant unit, and then appealed to a higher authority or to a court.
The Pension Fund of Ukraine emphasized that 1 September is the effective date of the new rules, not a set day for simultaneous crediting of funds to all displaced persons. If payments were not extended, recipients are advised to contact the PFU and check their status.
