In the Mykolaiv region, law enforcement detained a 45-year-old serviceman suspected of deliberately killing his 40-year-old comrade. The victim received several stab wounds and died at the scene. The incident occurred on the night of August 24, 2026, the communications department of the Mykolaiv Regional Police reported.

Police received information about the discovery of a man with no signs of life. Investigators, operatives, forensic specialists and a forensic medical examiner arrived at the scene. During the examination of the body, the examiner recorded stab wounds to the chest and neck. The deceased was a 40-year-old serviceman. According to preliminary investigation data, during the night a verbal conflict arose between the man and his 45-year-old fellow serviceman. During the argument, the suspect allegedly inflicted several stab wounds on his comrade. Forensic specialists recorded and seized material evidence from the scene.

Officers brought the man to the police station. He was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Under the procedural supervision of the prosecutor’s office, the detainee was notified of suspicion of intentional homicide under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s penalty provides for up to 15 years of imprisonment. The court is expected to decide on a preventive measure for the suspect shortly. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
