In Kyiv, a father of five minor children was illegally detained at a territorial recruitment center (TRC)

In Kyiv, employees of the Office of the Ombudsperson discovered a case of unlawful detention in a territorial recruitment center of a father of five minor children. This was reported on 3 September by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets.

According to him, the man was detained near his home without a protocol being drawn up. He presented military registration documents and five birth certificates of his children in the Diia app, yet he was still taken to the TCC for a military-medical commission. Inside the mobilization center his phone was taken away and he was kept detained.

Staff of the Office of the Ombudsperson intervened in the situation. After that, the man was returned his phone and released.

As Dmytro Lubinets said, while speaking with the staff of the Office of the Ombudsperson, the man showed TCC servicemen in the “Diia” app five birth certificates of his children. He also showed a screenshot from “Reserve+” which still contained information about his deferment from conscription. However, during a check in the app the deferment no longer appeared.

“In the presence of the staff of the Office of the Ombudsperson, the man showed TCC servicemen in ‘Diia’ five birth certificates of his children and a screenshot from ‘Reserve+’ where information about his deferment from conscription was indeed preserved. But during the check the deferment in ‘Reserve+’ was already gone,” Lubinets said.

At the initiative of the Ombudsperson’s representative, a report of a crime was sent to the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
