Shooting in Kyiv's Sviatoshynskyi district: one person injured, police conducting a special operation
Law enforcement officers are searching for an armed suspect and have involved KORD officers in the operation
On the morning of Thursday, September 3, an unknown person opened fire in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv. Law enforcement received a report about the shooting in the morning. According to preliminary information, one man was wounded and is currently receiving medical assistance.
The capital’s police are conducting a special operation to detain the armed suspect. Personnel of the territorial and main directorates of Kyiv police have been mobilized. Additional law enforcement forces, including fighters from the special unit KORD, have been involved in the search and detention of the man.
Police are establishing the circumstances of the shooting and continue searching for the suspect. Earlier there were reports of a shootout.
Social media posts say the shooting may have occurred near a hospital. It is also reported that the event may be connected to the disappearance of deputy commander for combat operations of the GUR unit “Russian Volunteer Corps”, Stepan Kaplunov.
In addition, a video of the shootout between the SBU and the GUR was released. Police continue to clarify all details of the incident.
