In Mykolaiv, the State Flag of Ukraine was solemnly raised
The ceremony took place to mark State Flag Day, and participants also laid flowers at the monument to Taras Shevchenko
On Sunday, 23 August, a ceremony for the solemn raising of the State Flag of Ukraine took place in Mykolaiv. The event was held on the occasion of State Flag Day, which is celebrated across the country on this day.
The event was attended by the acting head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration (OVA) Heorhii Reshetylov, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council Anton Tabunshchyk, the mayor of Mykolaiv Oleksandr Sienkevych, the deputy head of the OVA Yurii Hranaturov and the head of the Regional Youth Congress of Mykolaiv Oblast Yevhen Yevsyukov.
Also among those present were representatives of the youth congress, local and regional authorities, law enforcement agencies, servicemen and city residents.
Before the start of the ceremony, participants honored with a minute of silence the memory of people who died as a result of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine. After that, the blue-and-yellow flag was raised over Mykolaiv.
During the commemorative events, those present also laid flowers at the monument to Taras Shevchenko. In this way they paid tribute to prominent figures of Ukraine, state-builders and to all who died defending the country’s independence.
The Mykolaiv Regional State Administration emphasized that the State Flag of Ukraine remains one of the key symbols of the country’s unity. The blue-and-yellow flag unites Ukrainians in the struggle for freedom, independence and the country’s future, embodying the resilience and indomitability of the Ukrainian people.
