Russia launched 106 drones and missiles at Ukraine: 13 hits were recorded
In Kyiv, following a ballistic attack, fires broke out in two districts and there are injured people
On the night of 16 August Russia carried out a large-scale strike on Ukraine. Missiles of various types and 106 strike unmanned aerial vehicles were used in the attack, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
Missiles targeted Kyiv, Kremenchuk and Kryvyi Rih. Among the weapons used were anti-ship missiles “Oniks“, ballistic “Iskander-M“, S-400 and KN-23, as well as guided air-launched missiles Kh-59/69.
At the same time, 106 strike UAVs of the Shahed types crossed Ukrainian territory, including jet drones, “Herbera” and “Parodia” decoy drones. Launches were carried out from the directions:
- Kursk;
- Millerovo;
- Oryol;
- Bryansk;
- Primorsko-Akhtarsk;
- temporarily occupied Donetsk;
- temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The largest number of aerial attack assets were directed at the Kyiv, Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
As of 08:00, according to preliminary information, Ukrainian air defence shot down or suppressed three guided Kh-59/69 missiles and 85 drones. Combat operations continued in the north, south, east and central parts of the country.
In total, 13 hits by aerial attack assets were recorded. Debris also fell in three locations.
It was separately noted that Kyiv was attacked by ballistic missiles at night. Fires broke out in two districts of the city; there are casualties.
