A quarter of pensioners live on less than 4,000 hryvnias: what residents of the Mykolaiv region receive
2.8 million people continue to work even after retirement
As of 1 July 2026 the average pension in Mykolaiv Oblast amounted to 6,936 hryvnias. This is 337 hryvnias, or approximately 4.6%, less than the national average, which reached 7,273 hryvnias.
This is evidenced by data from the public registries analysis service “Opendatabot“, compiled based on the statistics of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
There are 9.98 million pensioners in Ukraine in total. Since the beginning of 2026 their number has decreased by 190.5 thousand people.
Almost a third of Ukrainian pensioners receive payments above the national average. More than 7 thousand hryvnias per month are received by 3.2 million people, of whom about 500 thousand receive more than 20 thousand hryvnias.
At the same time every fourth pensioner receives about 3,500 hryvnias, i.e., less than 4,000 hryvnias per month.

In seven regions of Ukraine average pension payments exceed the national indicator. The highest average pension is recorded in Kyiv — 9,901 hryvnias, which is 36% higher than the national average.
In Donetsk Oblast the average pension is 8,990 hryvnias, or 24% more than the national level. In Luhansk Oblast pensioners on average receive 8,752 hryvnias, which is 20% above the country figure.
The lowest average pension is in Ternopil Oblast, where it amounts to 5,657 hryvnias, or 22% less than the national average.
In Chernivtsi Oblast the average payment is 5,839 hryvnias, which is 20% below the national indicator. In Zakarpattia Oblast pensioners on average receive 5,918 hryvnias, or 19% less.

Every fourth pensioner in Ukraine continues to work. In total this is 2.8 million people, or 28% of all pensioners. Their average pension is 7,994 hryvnias.
According to the Pension Fund of Ukraine, the minimum pension is 2,595 hryvnias. This amount equals the subsistence minimum for persons who have lost the ability to work.
The minimum pension is paid provided there is a full insurance record — 30 years for women and 35 years for men.
