A police officer beat a man while transporting him to the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC)
The victim was held for almost a day; the State Bureau of Investigation is checking whether others were involved
In Poltava, a law enforcement officer has been notified of suspicion for exceeding authority with the use of violence while delivering a man to the territorial recruitment center (TRC), the State Bureau of Investigations reported; the incident occurred in October 2025.
The State Bureau of Investigations officially announced the notification of suspicion, publishing details of the investigation on its website, which also sets out the circumstances of the incident and the preliminary legal characterization of the alleged actions of the police officer who was involved in escorting the citizen to the territorial recruitment center.
According to the investigation, the man was in his own car when police officers together with TRC representatives approached him, checked his documents and informed him that he was allegedly wanted for evading mobilization, after which they demanded that he go to the territorial recruitment center.
Investigators established that physical force was used during the detention: the man’s arms were twisted behind his back, he was beaten and forcibly put into a service vehicle, and later brought to the TRC, where he spent about a day; a forensic medical examination documented a number of bodily injuries, including a fracture of the head of the left radial bone.
The suspected police officer is charged with exceeding authority or official powers, which carries a penalty of imprisonment for up to 8 years; the court has already imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention with the option of posting bail.
In addition, the investigation is checking the actions of other persons who may have been present or involved in the incident, in particular determining the role of each participant in the use of force and the subsequent transfer of the man to the TRC.
