In the case of the abduction and brutal murder of brothers Maksym Moseichuk and Roman Moseichuk in the village of Kalynivka in Bila Tserkva Raion of Kyiv Oblast, new details have emerged regarding a possible motive for the crime. Law enforcement suspects the former commander of the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade, Stanislav Luchanov, of organizing the attack.

According to the version released by the investigation, before the abduction a verbal dispute arose between one of the brothers and a local woman over loud music and riding motorcycles. After a remark, the men allegedly responded to the woman with obscene language. Her husband — a serviceman — later demanded apologies, but the brothers refused. After that, according to police, he decided to take revenge and involved other servicemen.

As TSN.ua reports, social media users have suggested that Stanislav Luchanov may have wanted to demonstrate his influence in front of his wife, who, according to preliminary information, is 23 years younger than him. However, this version is only speculation and has not been officially confirmed by the investigation.

The village head of Kalynivka, Yevheniya Pavlivna, commenting on the suggestion of a personal motive by the former brigade commander, did not rule out this possibility.

“Maybe that is how it was.”

According to the village head, the family of the deceased were well known in the village. One of the brothers had previously fought defending Ukraine, while the other stayed at home to care for their ill mother. At the same time, local residents knew little about the Luchanov family.

Yevheniya Pavlivna described how the brothers were regarded in Kalynivka and what local residents say about the possible cause of the conflict.

“The guys were known in the village only for their good side. Little is known about the Luchanovs; they lived in their own world. The conflict, people say, happened because of loud music and the roar of motorcycles. We’ll see what is said in court.”

According to the police, members of the organized group, armed, entered the brothers’ property, forcibly put them into cars and transported them to another region. The men were held illegally for a long time, after which they were killed and their bodies buried in a forest belt in Poltava Oblast.

Law enforcement located the hiding place of the bodies on 9 July 2026. During the examination, numerous gunshot wounds were found. One of the detained servicemen during a procedural reenactment indicated the place where the victims had been buried.

As part of the investigation, nine servicemen were detained. Separately, on 13 July 2026 in the Podilskyi District of Kyiv, law enforcement, with KORD operational support, detained the former brigade commander Stanislav Luchanov, who is suspected of organizing the abduction and double murder.

Eight participants of the organized group were charged with unlawful deprivation of liberty and kidnapping. Certain figures, including the former commander, are accused of the intentional murder of two persons, committed by an organized group for mercenary motives and with the purpose of concealing another crime. If found guilty, they face up to 15 years imprisonment or life imprisonment.
