A wounded wild pigeon was killed after attempts to save it: Mykolaiv Oblast police have launched an investigation

Police officers of the Bashtanka district police department are checking information about possible cruel treatment of a wild pigeon in the city Novyi Buh, Mykolaiv region. The report about the incident was found by law enforcement officers while monitoring social networks.

On July 10, 2026, this was reported by the district police press service.

According to the author of the publication, a child found an injured pigeon on the street and decided to help it. Returning after some time, the child allegedly saw that unknown persons had cruelly killed the bird. These circumstances are not yet confirmed and are being verified by the police.

The report was registered in the Unified Register of Reports and Notifications of Criminal Offenses and Other Incidents. Law enforcement officers are identifying possible witnesses and people who may be involved in the bird’s death.

The police message does not state that a criminal proceeding has been opened. After the check is completed, the actions of possible participants in the incident should be given a legal assessment in accordance with the law.
