"There is a solution": Kim announced a way to repel intensified attacks on the Mykolaiv region

Russian forces have recently stepped up attacks on the infrastructure of Mykolaiv Oblast with strike drones of the “Shahed” type. The Ukrainian side already has a solution to strengthen countermeasures against such strikes, but its details are not being disclosed yet for security reasons.

This was reported on July 10, 2026 during a telethon by the head of the Mykolaiv RMA, Vitaliy Kim. According to him, he discussed the issue of the region’s protection with the leadership of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Vitaliy Kim said that a certain solution has already been developed to counter the new tactics of Russian attacks, but he did not disclose its content.

“There is a solution. I spoke with the leadership of the Air Force, we came up with something. I will not say what.”

The head of the RMA linked the increase in attacks to precise strikes by Ukraine’s Defense Forces on Russian enterprises that support the war. In his view, the occupiers need a propaganda “picture”, so they more often direct drones at the civilian infrastructure of Mykolaiv Oblast.

Vitaliy Kim explained why the Russian army increased the number of attacks on civilian targets in the region.

“It pains them greatly that their facilities are being hit. Our Defense Forces are striking precisely the critically important enterprises that serve the war. They need a picture, so they increased the number of attacks on our civilian targets.”

Which additional protective measures are planned to be used in Mykolaiv Oblast, the regional head did not specify.
