At the time of the attack many civilians were present there, including children.

As a result of the Russian strike 4 people3 adults and a child were killed. Among the victims – a 5-year-old girl and her 34-year-old mother. Medics tried to resuscitate the child at the scene, but they were unable to save her. The deceased woman’s older daughter was also injured and hospitalized.

Another victim was a 61-year-old man. A fourth critically wounded person died in hospital. According to the Sumy Regional Military Administration, 27 people were injured in the strike, including 7 children. 20 of the injured were hospitalized; half of them had severe injuries.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the night of July 4, 2026 reported that people could still be under the rubble of the damaged apartment building. The head of state also spoke about Russian strikes on Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and communities in Kharkiv, Dnipro and Donetsk regions.

Commenting on the consequences of yet another Russian attack on civilians, Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged the United States, G7 and G20 countries and Europe to increase pressure on the aggressor state:

“Partners need to pressure Russia so that this terror stops. Those whom Russia will listen to are definitely the United States, other G7 and G20 countries, and Europe. It should be remembered that Europe has tools to pressure this aggressor. And these are primarily pressure on its energy resources, its oil fleet, and its financial system. These must be used, and steps must be taken to strengthen our defense, above all air defense. Thank you to all the leaders who are active and do not lose a single day”.
