More than 20 residential buildings have been damaged in Kyiv: the death toll has risen to 13

Massive attack on the capital: rescuers are working at 15 locations

In Kyiv, as a result of a nighttime large-scale Russian attack, at least 13 people were killed and more than 30 were injured. Rescuers continue search-and-rescue operations, so the number of victims may rise. This was reported on the morning of July 2, 2026 by Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko. Overall, more than 20 residential buildings in the capital were hit, and State Emergency Service (DSNS) workers continue to deal with the aftermath of the shelling at 15 locations.

One of the hardest-hit locations was the Darnytskyi district of the capital, where an enemy strike destroyed part of a nine-story residential building.

Rescuers managed to save 17 people. Seven of them were pulled out from under the rubble. At this location one death has been confirmed. There is also information about missing persons, who are still being searched for. The search-and-rescue operation continues. The necessary specialists and special equipment have been mobilized for the work.

Sites of the emergency rescue operations, as well as the damaged residential buildings, are under police protection. Ihor Klymenko urged residents to understand the imposed restrictions. In the deployed operational headquarters, police investigators are taking statements from people whose homes or other property were damaged as a result of the Russian attack.

According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, as of 09:00 there are already 86 people affected as a result of the enemy’s nighttime attack. 70 of them have been hospitalized.
