The average salary in Ukraine in May increased to 30,961 UAH
Mykolaiv region is lagging again: the average salary in the region is almost 3.7 thousand hryvnias lower than the average
In May, residents of the region on average received 27.3 thousand UAH, while nationwide this indicator exceeded 30.9 thousand UAH
In May 2026 the average nominal wage of full-time employees in Ukraine rose by 1.5% compared with April and amounted to 30,961 UAH. At the same time, Mykolaiv Oblast continues to lag behind the national level.
According to the State Statistics Service, the average wage of full-time employees of enterprises, institutions and organizations (with more than 10 employees) in Mykolaiv Oblast in May amounted to 27,287 UAH. This is 3,674 UAH or almost 12% less than the national average.
Compared with April, wages in Mykolaiv rose by 5.1% — from 25,972 UAH to 27,287 UAH. However, the region still has not caught up with the national indicator.
By region, the highest average wages recorded in May were:
- Kyiv — 47,115 UAH;
- Kyiv Oblast — 32,374 UAH.
The lowest:
- Kirovohrad Oblast — 22,336 UAH;
- Chernivtsi Oblast — 22,354 UAH.
The highest wages by types of economic activity were received by employees in:
- information and telecommunications — 76,997 UAH;
- financial and insurance activities — 64,349 UAH;
- professional, scientific and technical activities — 38,298 UAH.
The lowest average wages were in the sectors:
- education — 21,122 UAH;
- health care and social assistance — 21,554 UAH;
- arts, sports and recreation — 21,734 UAH.
The State Statistics Service also reported that as of 1 June 2026 wage arrears in Ukraine increased to 3.8 billion UAH versus 3.7 billion UAH a month earlier. The data are provided excluding temporarily occupied territories and areas of active hostilities.
