In Mykolaiv, rescuers and law enforcement identified a minor who made a series of false emergency calls.

According to the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv Oblast, the boy, born in 2013, called emergency services and reported alleged fires and road traffic accidents at various addresses in the city.

After receiving such reports, dispatchers followed the established procedure — information was promptly passed to units, and rescuers went to the sites of possible emergencies. However, all the calls proved to be false.

The State Emergency Service emphasizes that the minor decided to test the emergency services’ response speed, without considering that someone else might have needed real help at that moment.

The boy’s identity was established. His parents were held administratively liable for their son’s actions.

Rescuers remind that every groundless call wastes time and fuel and ties up equipment and personnel that may be needed where a real emergency has occurred.

The State Emergency Service urges parents to pay more attention to how children spend their free time, to explain safety rules and the responsibility for false reports about emergencies.

“Every groundless call is time wasted, equipment deployed, fuel consumed and personnel engaged that at that moment may be needed where a real emergency has occurred,” the agency emphasized.
