Seven medals for Mykolaiv: para-fencers performed brilliantly at the Ukrainian Championships
Athletes from Mykolaiv have proven that they cannot be stopped
From May 29 to 31, 2026, the Ukrainian wheelchair fencing championship for athletes with musculoskeletal impairments was held in Kyiv. The tournament featured 35 participants from 10 regions of Ukraine, the press service of the Mykolaiv City Council reports.
Mykolaiv at the national championship was represented by athletes of the regional center “Invasport”: Dmytro Seryozhenko, Oleh Naumenko, Tetiana Poznyak, Oleksii Zakusilov and Mykhailo Shyriaiev.
As a result of the championship, representatives of Mykolaiv won seven medals.
Oleksii Zakusilov became the champion in the epee competition and won a silver medal in foil fencing.
Dmytro Seryozhenko took first place in sabre fencing, and also won a bronze medal in the foil tournament.
Oleh Naumenko twice reached the second step of the podium, taking silver in both epee and foil fencing.
Tetiana Poznyak finished with a bronze medal in epee fencing.
The athletes were coached by Honored Coaches of Ukraine Hennadii Yanovskyi, Volodymyr Khrystyk and Oleksandr Doroshyn.
