In the Dnipropetrovsk region, a man tortured a 16-year-old pregnant girl — pressed her hand against a burner
Investigation: out of jealousy he isolated the girl and monitored her calls; he has been notified of suspicion under Article 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine
In the Dnipropetrovsk region a 24-year-old man throughout April tortured his pregnant 16-year-old cohabiting partner; he has been notified of suspicion and remanded in custody, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported.
According to investigators, the suspect, who is 24 years old, lived with the minor and repeatedly resorted to abuse that, according to law enforcement, was motivated by jealousy.
The man beat the girl, strangled her, forcibly kept her in the apartment and hid the keys, trying to obtain from her an alleged confession of infidelity.
One of the episodes recorded by the investigation concerns the fact that the suspect pressed the victim’s hand to a heated gas nozzle.
“In addition, the suspect controlled her phone calls and, by threatening her, forbade her from telling relatives about what had been done. Unable to endure the abuse, the victim called the police while the man was absent,” the Office of the Prosecutor General said.
The defendant has been charged with torture under Part 1 of Article 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and remand in custody was chosen as the preventive measure.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing; investigators are establishing all the circumstances of the case and checking other possible episodes of violence.
