Memory Alarm: every day at 09:00 the country will pause for one minute as sirens sound
The decision also applies to the nationwide "Light a Candle" campaign — honoring the victims of the Holodomor on the fourth Saturday of November
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allowed the use of alert systems for announcements related to commemorating the dead, in particular for a daily nationwide minute of silence and commemorative events, Yuliia Svyrydenko reported.
From now on, every day at 09:00 a message will be broadcast through existing alert systems announcing the start of the nationwide minute of silence in memory of fallen Ukrainian military personnel and civilians who became victims of Russian aggression and other tragedies.
In addition to the daily announcements, sirens and other notification channels will be used during the nationwide campaign «Light a Candle», which traditionally takes place on the fourth Saturday of November in memory of the victims of the Holodomor of 1932–1933.
According to Yuliia Svyrydenko, the government decision is aimed at shaping a modern culture of remembrance and strengthening public respect for the fallen Defenders of Ukraine.
“A daily minute of silence is an important part of our memory and an expression of respect for the fallen Defenders, as well as for civilians,” — emphasized Yuliia Svyrydenko.
