At the Central District Court of Mykolaiv, investigative judge Ivan Dirko chose pretrial detention without the right to bail for a 63-year-old resident of Kherson who is suspected of treason.

The court press service announced the ruling, publishing the information on its Telegram channel, which states that the decision was made after considering the investigation’s motion and evaluating the submitted materials (source).

The investigation believes the suspect cooperated with a representative of the aggressor country’s security services and collected data on the deployment and movements of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as on personnel numbers and available equipment.

It is noted that he sent information with geographic coordinates of a number of objects, including industrial enterprises, educational institutions, and medical facilities, and also reported on the consequences of Russian shelling.

During the court hearing the man admitted guilt and explained that he agreed to cooperate due to blackmail and fear for his grandson, who lives in Russia, adding that he mostly indicated empty locations and only once reported on the results of a shelling.

The defense asked to deny the investigator’s motion, claiming that the stated risks were not proven; however, after examining the collected evidence the court agreed on the necessity of the most severe preventive measure and sent the suspect to a pretrial detention center without the possibility of bail.
