The little one is already exploring the world: a rare white kangaroo joey is growing up at the Mykolaiv Zoo
Mom's "pouch" has grown: the little kangaroo is already running alongside
A small white joey is growing up at the Mykolaiv Zoo. This was reminded on May 17, 2026 on the zoo’s page on Facebook.
According to zoo staff, the youngster has already become much more active. He often climbs out of his mother’s pouch, runs alongside her, washes himself, feeds and attentively watches the surrounding world. Visitors also particularly interest the joey. So zoo guests can see how the youngster behaves next to his mother, how he takes his first independent steps and gradually gets used to the space around him. The zoo notes that it is interesting to watch this behavior live, and invites Mykolaiv residents and city guests to visit them.
For Mykolaiv such news is especially valuable: even during the war the city continues to live, and the zoo remains a place where children and adults can see the birth and growing up of new life.
