The fountains are back: Mykolaiv has officially opened the "season of coolness"

In Mykolaiv, the fountain season is starting. This was reported on 6 May 2026 by the mayor, Oleksandr Senkevych. According to the mayor, with the arrival of warmer weather the city wants to bring back at least a little atmosphere of calm and the things typical for peaceful life. Oleksandr Senkevych said that the fountains should become a place for residents to rest, take a walk and at least briefly distract themselves from the war and constant tension.

“Finally warm days, more sun and a slightly lighter mood. I want the city to have more moments like this, when you can just stroll, stop by a fountain and breathe out”, – said Oleksandr Senkevych.

The mayor also thanked the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the ability to live and continue the city’s restoration even during the war. He separately reminded residents that the water in the city fountains is technical and therefore should not be used for drinking.
