Oars in hand — medals for Mykolaiv: our athletes shone in Kyiv
Sport is sustained by people: Mykolaiv rowers have once again proven their calibre
The Mykolaiv City Council on May 6, 2026 reported on the successful performance of Mykolaiv athletes at the Ukrainian Rowing Cup. The competition took place from April 30 to May 3 in Kyiv. The Ukrainian Cup was dedicated to the memory of the fighter “Heavenly Hundred”, Hero of Ukraine Viktor Shvets.
Athletes from SHVSM Mykolaiv won a number of awards in various disciplines. Olga Shcherbyna took 2nd place in the 1x LW class, and also became a silver medalist as part of the 8+ crew. Another 2nd place as part of the 8+ crew was won by Svitlana Spiriukhova. She also became a silver medalist in the 4- event.
Among the men, Oleksandr Veprev won 3rd place as part of the 8+ crew, and Maksym Andrushchak took 3rd place in the 4x event.
Mykolaiv rowers are coached by Pavlo Pryshutov, Maryna Pryshutova and Halyna Chetvertak. The city council congratulated the athletes and their coaches on the results at the nationwide competitions.
