In Mykolaiv law enforcement officers detained a man who reported an intention to carry out an explosion in a multi-storey building. This was reported on May 5, 2026 by the Mykolaiv region police.
A phone call to the emergency line 112 arrived in the evening of May 4. The man stated that he planned to blow up an apartment building on one of the city’s streets. Patrol officers and the investigative-operational team of the Mykolaiv District Police Department immediately arrived on the scene. In the stairwell, law enforcement officers smelled a strong odor of household gas. Residents of the building had also complained about it. Police identified the apartment from which the gas smell was coming and demanded that the door be opened. However, the occupant refused to do so.
