Half a kilogram of PVP and drug dealing within a "close circle": Mykolaiv region police busted two suspects

The police of Mykolaiv region on April 25, 2026 reported two exposures related to the illegal circulation of the psychotropic substance PVP. In one case the suspect was a 31-year-old resident of Mykolaiv, in the other – a 37-year-old resident of Pervomaisk.

In Mykolaiv, the man’s criminal activity was stopped by investigators and operatives of the Mykolaiv District Police Department under the procedural guidance of the District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Mykolaiv. According to law enforcement, the 31-year-old city resident had purchased psychotropics in advance for further sale and was distributing packets of PVP among a limited circle of persons.

During a sanctioned search at the suspect’s residence, police seized a mirror with residues of a white powdery substance resembling a synthetic drug, electronic scales with traces of the substance, crushed plant material, a plastic syringe with a black liquid of unknown origin, money and other material evidence.

The man was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. All items seized were sent for expert examination. Investigators informed him of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal acquisition, storage, transportation or sending with the purpose of sale, as well as illegal sale of narcotic substances. Under this article the suspect faces up to 8 years of imprisonment. The court has already chosen a preventive measure for the suspect – detention with the right to post bail.

The second case occurred in Pervomaisk. There, investigators and operatives of the Pervomaisk District Police Department under the procedural guidance of the Pervomaisk District Prosecutor’s Office exposed a 37-year-old local resident. During the arrest officers seized 2 packages of the psychotropic substance PVP with a total weight of 500 grams, electronic scales and a mobile phone. A rapid test conducted by forensic specialists showed that the seized substance is drug-containing. The suspect was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and was notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal acquisition and storage of psychotropic substances for the purpose of sale in especially large amounts. The sanction of this article provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention for a period of 2 months without the right to post bail.

In both proceedings, law enforcement is establishing exactly where the psychotropic substances were supplied to the suspects from, and is also checking the possible circle of involved persons. These arrests once again show that PVP remains one of the most widespread and dangerous synthetic substances that are being attempted to be sold in the Mykolaiv region – from “a narrow circle of acquaintances” to consignments in especially large amounts.
