The Ministry of Energy reported that as of the morning of 23 April 2026, due to Russian shelling some consumers in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Sumy, Kherson and Kharkiv regions are temporarily left without power. At the same time, for the Mykolaiv region the main news was that as a result of an enemy attack on an energy facility one of the workers was wounded.

The ministry noted that the injured person in the Mykolaiv region was provided with all necessary assistance. Energy workers across the country are operating in an intensified mode, and restoration works continue around the clock. At present the application of electricity supply restrictions is not expected, but consumers are asked, if possible, to use electricity sparingly during evening hours — from 18:00 to 22:00.

For the Mykolaiv region this news is particularly painful, because the region is not for the first time subject to strikes on its energy infrastructure. Over the past week alone the region has endured a massive drone attack on energy and critical facilities, blackouts affecting hundreds of thousands of subscribers, as well as partial outages following a strike on Mykolaiv.

So even without the introduction of scheduled outages the situation for the region remains vulnerable: the enemy targets not only housing or infrastructure near the front line, but also the energy sector on which the operation of transport, businesses and people’s everyday life depends. That is why the appeal to save electricity during peak hours now looks not like a formality, but as part of the overall resilience of the system.
