WHO visited Mykolaiv: an emergency care building is being constructed for the regional hospital, and equipment has been handed over
The delegation was headed by Jarno Habicht, and the parties agreed on the priority needs of medical institutions and a roadmap for further cooperation
On Tuesday, 14 April, a delegation of the World Health Organization led by the Head of the WHO Country Office in Ukraine, Jarno Habicht, arrived in the Mykolaiv region on a working visit: there was a meeting with the regional leadership, an inspection of the Mykolaiv Regional Clinical Hospital and the transfer of equipment for several specialized departments.
Joining the discussion were the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, Anton Tabunshchyk, and his first deputy Ihor Shcherbyna; the head of the Mykolaiv RMA, Vitaliy Kim, and his deputy Yurii Granaturov; the head of the regional health administration Iryna Tkachenko; and the director of the Mykolaiv Regional Clinical Hospital, Iryna Shabilyanova.
During the working meeting, participants assessed the current state of the healthcare sector in the Mykolaiv region, identified the priority needs of hospitals and possible support instruments from WHO, and also agreed on further directions of cooperation and the preparation of joint projects.
As part of the visit, WHO representatives visited the Mykolaiv Regional Clinical Hospital, where they reviewed the project to construct an additional building for the emergency medical care department, which is being implemented in partnership with the organization, and discussed the next steps for its implementation.
The medical facility also received a batch of equipment: mobile patient lifts, verticalizers, specialized shower chairs and other items for the needs of the rehabilitation, surgery, intensive care, stroke unit and polytrauma departments.
