Historical photographs of Mykolaiv, previously held only in museum collections, are now available online. The results of the “Mykolaiv Digital Photo Archive” project were presented at the Mykolaiv Regional Museum of Local History. The Mykolaiv City Council reported this on November 5, citing the Mykolaiv Development Agency.
Selected photographs were digitized, processed, and accompanied by descriptions. Museum teams helped select and attribute the images, bringing part of the city’s visual memory—until now kept in collections—into public view.
The project brought together its organizers, museum partners, and a supporting institution:
- MY ART Platform — is carrying out the project together with the city’s development agency;
- Mykolaiv Development Agency — worked on the photo archive together with the platform and museum teams;
- Mykolaiv Regional Museum of Local History — a project partner whose collections provided historical photographs for digitization;
- Museum of Shipbuilding and the Fleet — a partner whose collection photographs were also added to the digital archive;
- Ukrainian Cultural Foundation — supported the project through its “Cultural Heritage” grant program.
Digital copies can be viewed on the “Mykolaiv Digital Heritage” platform. The city’s photographic history is now accessible to everyone: you can see what Mykolaiv looked like a hundred years ago without leaving home.
