In Mykolaiv, police detained a 42-year-old man who was notified of suspicion of illegally selling drugs. According to the Communications Department of the Mykolaiv Regional Police, he was detained immediately after another sale of cannabis.

According to investigators, the man processed the drug raw material himself and packaged the ready-to-use cannabis for sale. His buyers were a small circle of acquaintances: he handed over the drug directly, from hand to hand. Before each meeting, he arranged the time and place of the handover in advance.

Investigators cite two instances of cannabis sales, for which the man received 1,800 and 3,000 hryvnias, respectively.

Authorized searches were conducted both at his registered address and at his actual residence. Police seized:

  • about 8 kilograms of cannabis;
  • electronic scales;
  • packaging materials;
  • mobile phones;
  • money in Ukrainian and foreign currencies.

The detainee was notified of suspicion under Parts 1, 2, and 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The charges cover the illegal production, manufacture, and possession of narcotic drugs for the purpose of sale, as well as their sale, including repeatedly and in especially large quantities.

The court ordered the suspect held in custody, with the option of bail set at 499,200 hryvnias. If convicted, he could face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officers are establishing where the drugs came from and whether the suspect had accomplices.
