Shelling and bad weather left parts of Mykolaiv Oblast without power
Prolonged air raid alerts and the threat of further strikes are hindering the restoration of electricity supply
As of October 19, some settlements in Mykolaiv region remained without electricity due to Russian shelling and adverse weather. Energy workers are working to restore power.
Bad weather caused power outages in more than 140 settlements across Kyiv, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions.
In addition to the weather-related disruptions, the power system came under new Russian attacks. During the night of October 19 and in the morning that day, energy facilities in the following regions were targeted:
- Vinnytsia region;
- Volyn region;
- Kirovohrad region;
- Kyiv region;
- Mykolaiv region;
- Zhytomyr region;
- Khmelnytskyi region;
- Kharkiv region;
- Ternopil region;
- Odesa region;
- Rivne region.
As a result of these strikes, some consumers lost power. New outages caused by shelling and hostilities also occurred in Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kherson and Chernihiv regions.
Repair crews are fixing the damage, and power has already been restored to some consumers. However, prolonged air-raid alerts and the threat of further attacks are complicating restoration work.
Due to damage to power grids from Russian attacks, restrictions are being implemented in some regions of Ukraine:
- hourly electricity outage schedules for consumers;
- capacity restriction schedules for industrial enterprises and businesses.
These measures are intended to stabilize the power system and prevent more extensive outages.
Residents are advised to check current outage schedules and updates to electricity supply on the official resources of their local electricity distribution system operator.
