Long Waits and Overcrowded Buses: What’s Happening with Route No. 91 in Mykolaiv

There aren’t enough buses: Balabanivka residents sound the alarm again over bus No. 91

In Mykolaiv, the shortage of buses on Route No. 91, which connects Balabanivka with other parts of the city, has once again prompted residents to contact the city authorities. They complain about long waits for buses in the morning and evening, overcrowded vehicles, and the risk of being late for work or not getting home on time.

In an appeal to the Contact Center at Mykolaiv City Council, Iryna Dziailo is asking for the number of buses on Route No. 91 to be urgently increased during peak hours. The author of the appeal stresses that the current service does not meet passengers’ needs. She is calling on the city authorities not only to take note of the problem, but also to take concrete action and explain how they plan to resolve it.

“It’s hard to call this a shortage. Between 7:30 and 7:55, buses arrived one after another. So it is possible to make the schedule work. Perhaps the 7:35 service could be reinstated, too. As it is, there’s one at 7:10 and the next at 7:55. We can’t make the first one, and then we wait 30 minutes in the cold for the second. And they come in groups of three, so there’s not enough room,” said Larysa Kryvokhezha.

This is not the first appeal concerning Route No. 91. Korabelov.Info has already reported on a resident’s complaint calling for a review of the bus schedule between Balabanivka and other parts of Mykolaiv.

At the time, the passenger pointed to specific periods when no buses were running: from 07:10 to 07:55 in the morning and from 17:10 to 18:40 in the evening, heading toward Balabanivka. As a result, children could have difficulty getting to educational institutions in the Korabelnyi district, while adults might struggle to get to work on time.

In its response to that appeal, municipal enterprise Mykolaivpastrans explained that, starting October 5, 2026, Route No. 91 was extended from Balabanivka Cemetery to the Riviera residential complex, which also led to a schedule change. The company said it was analyzing passenger numbers, bus occupancy, and residents’ suggestions. It promised to review the schedule if necessary, based on the monitoring results.

The new appeal from Iryna Dziailo shows that passengers continue to raise concerns about the insufficient number of buses during peak hours. However, there is currently no confirmation as to whether the company has completed its earlier analysis or made any schedule changes following the first complaint.
