Gas ignited while an oven was being used in an apartment in Mykolaiv
Damaged kitchen window glazing; no injuries or fire reported
In one of the apartments in Mykolaiv, a gas-air mixture ignited on October 13 while the oven was in use. As a result, the kitchen window glass was damaged.
According to the Mykolaiv Region State Emergency Service, no one was injured in the incident. No fire broke out either.
Rescuers reminded people that with the onset of cold weather and during power outages, improper use of appliances can cause a fire, an explosion, or carbon monoxide poisoning. They highlighted the following safety rules:
- Use a gas stove and oven for cooking, not for heating your home.
- Camping burners are not designed for indoor use. Use them only for their intended purpose and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
- A generator must be operated outdoors only, at least 6 meters away from buildings, windows, doors, and ventilation openings. Refuel it only after switching it off and allowing it to cool.
The State Emergency Service urged people to take care of their own safety and not put their loved ones at risk.
