Other People’s Data for Starlink: Two Residents of Mykolaiv Registered Terminals for the Russian Army
The detainees are suspected of treason under martial law
Two residents of Mykolaiv, aged 18 and 22, have been named as suspects in a treason case involving the registration of Starlink satellite communication terminals for Russian forces.
According to the investigation, the men agreed to carry out tasks for a representative of the Russian Federation in exchange for money. They used the details of nominees to register the terminals and helped activate more than 10 devices.
One of the incidents dates back to June 2026: the suspects registered a terminal through a postal operator in Mykolaiv and reported back to their Russian handler. The device itself was located in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region and was intended for use by Russian forces.
All the terminals the suspects registered for Russian armed formations have now been blocked.
After their arrest, both men were notified that they are suspected of treason under Article 111, Part 2, of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—treason committed under martial law. The suspects are in custody. If convicted, they face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
