A Shahed drone was shot down with a heavy machine gun in the Mykolaiv region
Viktor from the 137th Security Battalion has combat experience from the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO)
An enemy Shahed-type attack drone was destroyed with a heavy machine gun by Viktor, a member of a mobile fire group from the 137th Security Battalion. The incident occurred in Mykolaiv Oblast on the night of October 9, 2026.
For the defender, Mykolaiv Oblast is home. His combat experience began long before he joined his current unit: in 2014–2015, he took part in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in eastern Ukraine. The serviceman joined the 137th Security Battalion in 2024.
He described how he prepares to engage real targets:
“We train constantly, work with our weapons, conduct live-fire exercises, and practice on simulators. When a real target appears, you already know what to do and how to do it. So every interception like this is the result of our training and teamwork,” said Viktor (translated into Ukrainian).
