One killed during the day, homes damaged at night: Russia attacks Mykolaiv
After the overnight strike, utility crews are preparing response teams; no one was injured
Russian forces attacked Mykolaiv yesterday afternoon and overnight into October 10. The daytime strike killed a 64-year-old man, while one woman suffered an acute stress reaction. No one was injured in the nighttime attack.
The city was attacked overnight by Shahed-type drones. Industrial and civilian infrastructure came under fire. In addition to infrastructure facilities, the following were damaged:
- residential buildings, including the windows of an apartment building;
- commercial premises, including shops;
- office premises;
- an administrative building.
Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych noted that the areas targeted had already been shelled by Russia in 2022. After the overnight strike, city officials visited the affected sites to assess the damage and determine residents’ needs. Municipal services are preparing crews to deal with the aftermath of the shelling.
Heorhii Reshetilov, acting head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, also described the consequences of the daytime strike: Russian forces used “Bandarol”-type drones against energy and industrial infrastructure. A boiler room and a hangar were damaged.
Yesterday, Russian forces also attacked the Halytsynove community in Mykolaiv district with FPV drones. In the village of Lymany, a private home and a commercial property were damaged. No one was injured there.
Residents of Mykolaiv whose homes were damaged by the shelling and have not yet been inspected should contact the State Architectural and Construction Control Department. The damage must be documented there to ensure they can receive the assistance they are entitled to.
