The sidewalk repairs have been delayed: more than UAH 1.3 million is being demanded from the contractor in Mykolaiv
The court opened proceedings concerning the fine and penalty for late payment
The Mykolaiv District Prosecutor’s Office has filed a lawsuit seeking to recover more than UAH 1.3 million in fines and late-payment penalties from a contractor. The claim concerns delays in repairing a sidewalk in the Central District of the city: the work was not completed by the deadline set out in the contract.
The contractor initiated the signing of amendments that extended the deadline for completing the work by five months. The prosecutor’s office believes there were no legal grounds for this extension.
The repair was commissioned by a local government body. Despite the delay, it did not impose the contractual penalties on the contractor. To protect the interests of the local community, the prosecutor’s office decided to seek recovery of those penalties through the courts.
The court has already opened proceedings in the case. The hearing is ongoing.
