Third strike on the Southern Bridge: traffic in Kyiv redirected to other crossings
Restrictions also affected the Paton Bridge and the Metro Bridge
After the Russian attack on the night of October 2 in Kyiv, public transport movement was restricted over the Pivdennyi Bridge, the Paton Bridge and the Metro Bridge. Some buses were redirected to the Darnytskyi Bridge, and trolleybus routes were changed. These restrictions were reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.
That night the Russians hit the Pivdennyi Bridge again. Around 05:00 the mayor Vitali Klitschko reported the third strike on this crossing.
For passengers the following changes were introduced:
- Buses No. 22 and No. 91 are going via the Darnytskyi Bridge instead of the Pivdennyi Bridge.
- Buses No. 51, No. 55, No. 115 and No. 118-D were also routed via the Darnytskyi Bridge after the closure of the Paton Bridge.
- Trolleybus No. 43 now connects the Cybernetic Center with Lybidska Square.
- Trolleybus No. 50 runs from Myloslavska Street to Darnytska Square.
On the Metro Bridge traffic toward the right bank was closed. Bus No. 1-M was initially routed via the Podilskyi Bridge, but later its service was restored. Currently it is running behind schedule.
Attacks on the Pivdennyi Bridge began yesterday, October 1. During the day the Russians struck its support section. After a preliminary inspection the Kyiv City Military Administration stated that specialists did not find critical damage. In the evening the crossing was hit again: the roadway, a support pier, a crash barrier and metro fencing were damaged.
