Anti-drone cloaks and police protection: an escape to Slovakia was sold for €11,000
Both were detained on their way to the border after a partial payment
Employees of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation in Mykolaiv exposed a resident of Kropyvnytskyi and an inspector of the patrol police of Kirovohrad Oblast. According to the investigation, for money they helped individuals liable for military service to illegally enter Slovakia. The organizer priced his services at €11,000 per client.
The man sought individuals liable for military service who wanted to avoid mobilization. He offered to transport them to the border, get them through checkpoints, and then ferry them via a mountain route toward Slovakia.
According to investigators, the organizer involved a patrol police officer in the scheme. At checkpoints the inspector was to show his service ID and present the passengers as his colleagues so that the vehicle would pass inspections without hindrance.
The price also included guide services and a briefing before crossing the border. Potential clients were advised to prepare camouflage suits and anti-drone cloaks: it was expected that this would make them less visible to border guards.
The organizer himself had a deferment from mobilization as the brother of a fallen serviceman. Two suspects were detained on the way to the state border after receiving part of the agreed sum.
The men were charged with facilitating the illegal transfer of people across the state border of Ukraine under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Decisions on preventive measures are currently pending. If found guilty, they face up to nine years in prison.
