Water at three dispensing points in Mykolaiv did not meet hygienic standards

In Mykolaiv, laboratory tests of drinking water found non-compliance with hygienic requirements at three distribution points. The results of the inspection were reported by the Main Department of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in the Mykolaiv Region.

Specialists took samples and tested them for organoleptic, physico-chemical and microbiological indicators. Deviations from the requirements of DSanPiN 2.2.4-171-10 were recorded at the following addresses:

• Pohrychna Street, 9 — the pH level was 5.5;
• Bedzaya Street, 110-A — the pH level was 5.7;
• Vilna Street, 38 — total water hardness reached 15 mmol/dm³.

Business entities were given recommendations on measures necessary to bring the quality of drinking water into compliance with established hygienic requirements.

The State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection emphasized that it is impossible to determine whether water meets standards by its appearance alone. Laboratory tests provide objective information about quality.
