Ukrainian dialoguers against Russian propaganda: who debunks imperial myths with facts on YouTube

While Russian propaganda continues to spread a distorted picture of history and events in Ukraine, some Ukrainian creators choose public dialogue as their weapon. On YouTube they communicate with Russians in chat-roulette services, ask uncomfortable questions, refer to historical documents, and try to unpack propagandist claims without shouting or insults.

One well-known representative of this format is Stanislav Chumak. His conversations emphasize calm discussion: instead of shouting over his interlocutor, he asks clarifying questions and draws attention to contradictions in claims about Ukraine.

Another creator is Yevhenii Moroz, who runs the KVITAN channel. By training he is a historian and uses his expertise when speaking with Russians. In his videos, humor is combined with analysis of historical questions, including topics on Kievan Rus, Ukrainian statehood, and imperial interpretations of the past.

Also among the Ukrainian dialoguers is Mykyta Sichen, who began working in this format as early as 2019. The author does not publicize personal data, instead relying on historical knowledge and a consistent debunking of common myths.

A sharper style is characteristic of the channel “Odeska Khunta”, whose author is Ihor Kyrylenko. His conversations with Russians allow one to trace not only the propagandist theses themselves but also the reactions of ordinary people who repeat them. At the center of such discussions remains the possibility of checking emotional claims against facts.

Serhii Ivanovych builds his videos on logic and consistency. During conversations he does not rush to conclusions, but asks interlocutors to explain their own claims and verify them against documents and primary sources.

A separate place among these authors is occupied by the Vox Veritatis channel, run by Vitalii Dribnytsia. He is a historian and educator, as well as a co-author of school textbooks. Vitalii Dribnytsia created the channel in 2021. His format combines dialogues with Russians and popularization of knowledge about Ukrainian history. The author’s activity also became the subject of a separate academic study.

Common to these authors is a conversational format in which the main emphasis is placed on arguments. Instead of heated shouting matches they use historical facts, documents, questions, and verification of claims. This approach allows not only to refute individual propagandist myths but also to show the mechanisms by which they are formed and spread.

In a full-scale war the information space remains one of the arenas of confrontation. For these Ukrainian creators YouTube and chat-roulette services have become a platform where they try to speak with Russians directly — through facts, history and argumentation.Earlier we wrote:
