After the accident — not to the hospital, but to the Territorial Recruitment Center: in Mykolaiv the cyclist’s wife reported a strange story
Traffic accident, nausea and headache — but instead of a hospital, a military enlistment and recruitment center (TCK)
On the afternoon of Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in the center of Mykolaiv a cyclist was involved in a traffic accident with an Opel car, after which patrol officers, according to his wife, checked the man in a database and took him to the Inhulskyi TCC. Relatives claim that after the accident the man complained of a severe headache and nausea and asked them to call an ambulance for him, but the family no longer knew his whereabouts. The situation was reported by “Novyny-N”.
According to the victim’s wife Marina, her husband Roman Zh., born in 2000, was riding a bicycle in the center of Mykolaiv. He was turning from Soborna Street onto Central Avenue heading toward Sadova Street when the collision with the Opel occurred.
Patrol police officers arrived at the scene of the accident. The woman claims that the officers took statements from both the Opel driver and the cyclist. At the same time, one of the patrol officers checked the man’s data in a database and allegedly determined that he had been listed as wanted by the Inhulskyi TCC.
After that, according to the family’s version, Roman Zh. was placed in a police vehicle and taken directly to the Inhulskyi District TCC. About an hour later his mother arrived, but she was allegedly told that her son was no longer in the building — he had been sent to an assembly point. The family became particularly concerned about the cyclist’s condition after the collision. The wife told journalists that her husband managed to contact her before, as she says, his phone was taken from him.
According to the wife, Roman Zh. reported symptoms that he associated with a traumatic brain injury sustained in the accident: he had a headache, felt nauseous, and experienced intermittent urges to vomit. There is no medical confirmation of such a diagnosis in the published information so far. The man asked his wife to call an ambulance. However, the woman claims that by that time she no longer knew exactly where her husband was — in the Inhulskyi TCC building or at the assembly point where, according to the center’s staff, he could have been sent.
No official position from the Patrol Police Department in the Mykolaiv region or from the TCC regarding the circumstances she described is provided in the article.
