September 1 marked the start of the new school year in Mykolaiv. In-person instruction was organized in 45 schools, another 7 institutions are operating in a mixed format, and 12 — remotely.

The format of Mykolaiv schools’ operation was announced by the mayor, Oleksandr Senkevych. He emphasized that during air-raid alerts, the safety of children remains the key condition for holding classes.

Today, while an air-raid alert is ongoing in Mykolaiv, we especially keenly understand how important it is that children are safe, — said Oleksandr Senkevych.

Over the years of the full-scale war, together with international partners, 46 shelters have been equipped in Mykolaiv schools. This makes it possible to hold in-person classes where security conditions allow. Work to improve the shelters continues.

The mayor separately thanked teachers who continue to teach children during air-raid alerts and directly in shelters. He also expressed gratitude to parents for their trust and support.

We wish students an interesting school year, good friends and more ordinary school days — without alerts, — emphasized Oleksandr Senkevych.

It was previously also reported on how September 1 assemblies will be held in the Mykolaiv region.
