In the morning of 29 August 2026, Russian forces again attacked the energy infrastructure of the Mykolaiv region with strike drones of the “Shahed” type. As a result of the strike, energy facilities were damaged and some sections had to be emergency shut down. According to preliminary data, more than 300,000 customers were left without power. The information was reported by the acting head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Heorhiy Reshetilov.

Power supply problems occurred directly in Mykolaiv, as well as in the communities of Mykolaiv and Bashtanka districts. Due to damage to the energy infrastructure, a number of sections were emergency de-energized. Energy workers and other responsible services began eliminating the consequences after the attack. The RMA stated that all available forces and resources are being mobilized to restore power supply.

The acting head of the Mykolaiv RMA, Heorhiy Reshetilov, commenting on the consequences of the latest Russian attack on the region’s energy infrastructure, said:

“Energy workers and all relevant services are working. We are consolidating all available forces and resources to eliminate the consequences of the attack and return light to people as soon as possible. The country – a terrorist – is once again purposefully striking civilian energy infrastructure, trying to leave people without power. We are doing everything possible to restore power supply as quickly as possible,” – Reshetilov.

This is not the first attack by Russian forces on the region’s energy sector in recent days. In particular, on 23 August 2026, after “Shahed” strikes an energy infrastructure facility in the Voznesensk district was damaged, leaving part of the district without power. Power supply was later restored.
