NABU announced that it had exposed two servicemen who demanded $100,000 to accept electronic warfare equipment
Initially, the suspects demanded 10% of the contract value, and later increased the amount to 20%
Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, together with prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, exposed two servicemen. According to the investigation, they demanded money from representatives of a private enterprise for the unhindered acceptance of electronic warfare systems for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. NABU reported this.
In October 2025 a public organization concluded a contract with a private company for the supply of EW devices with a total value of over UAH 22.4 million.
As law enforcement established, one of the suspects is an officer of a military unit who had influence over the equipment acceptance procedure. Initially he demanded from the manufacturer 10% of the contract value, that is UAH 2.24 million. Later the size of the illicit benefit increased to 20% — UAH 4.48 million.
According to the investigation, the other serviceman facilitated the implementation of this agreement. He received the first part of the money — USD 20,000. After that the suspects demanded that another USD 80,000 be handed over to them.
Both suspects were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. One of them was notified of suspicion under part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the other — under part 5 of Article 27 and part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
NABU and SAP urged manufacturers and suppliers of defense products to report instances of demands for illicit benefits during the execution of defense contracts.
Law enforcement emphasized that cooperation with the investigation helps expose corruption in defense procurement. According to them, the funds demanded as bribes could have been used to increase volumes, improve quality, and produce products for the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
