«Lecture on Volhynia» ended in an attack: in Poland eight men beat three Ukrainians

In the Polish city of Radom a group of eight men attacked three 20-year-old Ukrainians. The victims sustained bodily injuries, mainly to the head and face. The incident occurred on August 2, 2026, at approximately between 05:00 and 06:00, on Malczewskiego Street. Polish media published the details of the case only several weeks later. The circumstances of the attack were reported by the Polish outlets Mój Radom and Onet.

According to the investigation, 34-year-old Lublin resident Tomasz G. came to Radom for a wedding. After the celebration he, intoxicated, walked through the town and met three young Ukrainians. The man began asking them about their origin. A verbal argument broke out between them. According to the victims, the Pole tried to give them a “lecture about Volhynia”. After that Tomasz G. called three or four men who were passing on the other side of the street and told them that there were Ukrainians in front of them.

“They reacted very violently, and the attack began,” said Radom district prosecutor Cezary Ołtarzewski.

Later several more people joined the beating. In total eight men took part in the attack.

The Ukrainians sustained injuries to the head and face. The exact severity of the injuries is to be determined by a forensic medical examination. After the beating the main suspect ordered a taxi and left the scene, “as if nothing had happened”. The police identified him and brought him to the prosecutor’s office. The man was charged with using violence or unlawful threats with discriminatory motives, as well as participating in a group beating. Tomasz G. pleaded guilty and gave testimony. He was placed under police supervision as a preventive measure. The man faces up to five years in prison.

Law enforcement continues to identify other participants in the attack and is checking footage from the city’s video surveillance cameras.
