In Mykolaiv, formaldehyde levels in the air exceeded the norm by almost six times
Exceedances of the daily average maximum permissible concentration were recorded from August 17 to 22
In Mykolaiv, a significant exceedance of the daily maximum allowable concentration of formaldehyde in the ambient air was recorded again last week. This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Hydrometeorology.
In the period from 17 to 22 August the level of exceedance of the daily maximum allowable concentration of formaldehyde ranged from 4.2 to 5.8 times. The maximum reading was almost six times higher than the norm.
No exceedances of other pollutants were recorded during the entire week.
The state of the atmospheric air in Mykolaiv is monitored at four observation points located in different parts of the city.
Formaldehyde remains the main atmospheric pollutant in Mykolaiv. According to the regional center for hydrometeorology, this trend has been observed for many years.
Earlier, the city had already reported formaldehyde concentrations in the air exceeding the norm by more than five times.
