The former special representative of the U.S. President Donald Trump on Ukraine Kit Kellogg said that he supports the mobilization of Ukrainian women. In his view, they are capable of fighting no worse than men. The retired American general said this during an interview with the YouTube channel “Naspravdi MAX”, published August 24, 2026.

A journalist directly asked Kit Kellogg whether women in Ukraine should be mobilized into the armed forces. He answered in the affirmative and gave the example of his own family.

“I believe that women should be mobilized into the army, because they fight just as well as men. It is very important that women, as part of society, serve. I absolutely see no problem with that. My wife was a paratrooper and jumped with a parachute. My daughter was a paratrooper and jumped with a parachute. My wife fought in Grenada, and my daughter – in Afghanistan”, – Kit Kellogg.

At the same time, Kit Kellogg‘s words are his personal position and do not signify the adoption of any decision by the Ukrainian authorities.

Under current rules, women who are on the military register may be called up during martial law only voluntarily. Mandatory registration for military records applies to women who are fit by health and age and who have a medical or pharmaceutical specialty. Other women with related specialties may register voluntarily, explains the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Earlier, August 23, 2026, the secretary of the Verkhovna Rada committee on national security, defense and intelligence, Roman Kostenko, said that no changes in approaches to the mobilization of women are planned during the current year.
