The Ministry of Defense is preparing changes to the conscription age and “radical mobilization measures” — Kostenko
Specific decisions must be announced by the Ministry of Defense or the General Staff
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine is preparing changes to the conscription age and other radical measures in the field of mobilization. This was said by the secretary of the committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on national security, defence and intelligence, Roman Kostenko, on the air of the program “Hovoryt Velykyi Lviv”.
The MP noted that discussions of new approaches to mobilization have already begun. At the same time, he did not specify which exact changes to the conscription age should be expected.
“I know that some radical measures will be introduced there now. There are also talks, and, as far as I know, some things are changing in the conscription age. I will not specify… But I know that movements are underway”
According to Roman Kostenko, specific decisions should be announced by the The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine or the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He emphasized that mobilization issues fall within the powers of the bodies and officials who are directly responsible for this direction.
“This is their task, their authority… I want those responsible for mobilization to deal with this: the president, the government, the defence minister”
At the same time, the deputy said that this year approaches to the mobilization of women, as well as parents of three or more children, will not be changed. He added that he has not yet seen proposals for changes in these areas.
“In these areas I have not yet seen any proposals… We adopted the law that women serve only voluntarily”
