The Cherkasy Regional Police are investigating the circumstances of the death of an 11-year-old girl in Horodyshche and are separately looking into a conflict between minors, a video of which spread on social media after the tragedy.

According to police, on July 30 in one of the houses in Horodyshche the parents found their 11-year-old daughter unconscious. According to preliminary information, the child had taken medicinal medications.

The girl was hospitalized but died.

The police noted that the family had not previously come to the attention of law enforcement and was not on any preventive register.

Investigators opened a criminal case on the death of the child under para. 2 of part 2 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine with the mark “suicide”. Necessary examinations have been ordered as part of the investigation. Police are establishing all the circumstances that may have preceded the tragedy.

At the same time, on August 9 a video of a conflict between minors that took place in an unfinished building circulated on social media. The recording shows one of the girls hitting the other.

Police established that one of the participants in this conflict was the same 11-year-old girl who later died.

According to preliminary police information, the conflict occurred approximately 20–21 days before the child’s death. No complaints or reports about this incident were received by the police at the time it occurred.

Investigators are currently checking all information that may be relevant to determining the causes of the tragedy and are clarifying all the circumstances that preceded it.
